EDA to MCAD STEP Converter

Artwork is starting to develop a set of translators from 2D EDA data (PCB layout, IC layout and MEMs) into 3D MCAD tools. We have done significant work over the last 6 years in preparation – first with our 3Di database and viewer (used in Cadence SIP family of package and MCM products) and then with the more recent Read3Di software for importing 3Di directly into SolidWorks (using SolidWorks API). This will enable us to write converters from Gerber, ODB++, IPC2581, and GDSII to STEP.

Polygon Boolean Library

Artwork has released a new polygon boolean library. it supports operations needed when processing polygons for mask making and field analysis. These include:

union – combining touching or overlapping polygons into a single polygon

difference – subtracting one polygon (or set) from another.

intersection – finding the intersection between two polygons (or sets).

XOR – NOT the intersection of two sets.

sizing – increasing or decreasing the size of a polygon by a specified amount.

de-embedding – sorting a collection of polygons into parent and children (for purposes of polarity calculations).
